Industrial task force puts forward sector-specific changes to the Brexit regulation on type-approvalBrexit is very near in terms of possible adaptations to European type-approvals. Whether a hard or soft landing, the industry needs legal certainty and clarity as soon as possible to be ready when the UK steps out and all UK provided EU type approvals become invalid in the EU27. The Commission drafted a regulation to solve issues on type approval in relation to Brexit. Read More New exhaust emission delegated act publishedThe delegated act on environmental and propulsion unit performance requirements (REPPR) that complements Regulation 167/2013 sets details on the exhaust emission requirements for tractors. A new REPPR, Regulation 2018/985, was published recently and replaces the existing REPPR Regulation 2015/95. This new REPPR allows for the type-approval of tractors with Stage V engines. Furthermore, Regulation 2018/985 also introduces several aspects such as the transition scheme and the exemption for field testing of engines. Read More CEMA presents Code of Conduct at Expert consultation in BonnThe international Expert consultation meeting “Ethical, legal and policy aspects of data sharing affecting farmers” took place in Bonn in July 2018. The Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR), the Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition initiative (GODAN) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) started this initiative to highlight the lack of in-depth exploration of the ethical and legal aspects related to the access and use of data by farmers and the sharing of farmers’ data, as well as that on the policy side poor farmers are not put at the centre of the stage. Read More Research: CEMA part of new FAIRShare consortiumCEMA is pleased to announce that the Farm Advisory digital Innovation tools Realised and Shared (FAIRShare)project was selected for funding by the European Commission under the Rural renaissance Horizon 2020 Call for proposals RUR-14-2018. The project’s general objective is to ensure that the farm advisor community effectively uses digital tools and services. To do so, FAIRShare aims at engaging, enabling and empowering the independent farm advisor community, through sharing of tools, expertise and motivations. The scope of FAIRshare fits within the ambition of improved agriculture productivity and sustainability, innovation support actions, digital capacity building, a stronger European and regional AKIS, a faster implementation of new technologies with better social inclusion. Read More Research: CEMA partner of new project: SmartAgriHubsThe project SmartAgriHubs, presented by a consortium of which CEMA is a participating partner, was recently selected for funding by the European Commission under the Rural renaissance H2020 Call for proposals DT-RUR-12-2018. SmartAgriHubs is dedicated to accelerating the digital transformation of the European agri-food sector. It will consolidate, activate and extend the current ecosystem by building a network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) that will boost the uptake of digital solutions by the farming sector. Read More Research: Horizon 2020 Infoday 2018 on Societal Challenge 5On 11th September 2018, CEMA participated to the Information day organized in Brussels by the European Commission (DG RTD and EASME) to present the new funding opportunities offered by the Work Programme 2018-2020 for Horizon 2020 's Societal Challenge 5 (SC5) 'Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials'(total indicative budget 2018-2020 of €1.1bn, of which €387.5m for 2019). With the main focus of moving to a greener, more resource-efficient and climate-resilient economy in sync with the natural environment, as well as demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets of the COP21 Paris Agreement, the Work Programme highlights two main multiannual calls: Read More Research: Smart AKIS platform – a way to present your Smart Farming Technologies (SFTs) solutionsThe Smart-AKIS project officially closed on 31 August 2018. Nevertheless, the Smart-AKIS platform, a free platform providing a number of tools for disseminating and easing the use of Smart Farming Technologies will be maintained for at least two additional years. The Platform is open to farmers, advisory services, agriculture consultants, and farming equipment providers, setting up an open community where these groups can interact. Read More |
