On 13th January 2022, the European Commission adopted a Delegated Regulation amending the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/985, extending the deadlines for the production and putting on the market of transition engines of agricultural and forestry vehicles between 56kW and 130kW by 6 and 9 months respectively.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, significant supply chain and production disruptions affected the industry, both in 2020 and in 2021. Recognizing the difficulties, Regulation (EU) 2021/1068 of the European Parliament and of the Council amended Regulation (EU) 2016/16282 for non-road mobile machinery by postponing the deadlines occurring in 2021 for the non-road mobile machinery fitted with transition engines in the power range between 56kW and 130kW.

It was recognized also that those extensions should also be reflected in Regulation (EU) 2018/9854 for agricultural and forestry vehicles, since engines fitted in agricultural and forestry vehicles follow the Stage V pollutants emission limits and transitional provisions for non-road mobile machinery set out in Regulation (EU) 2016/1628.

The extensions are of 6 months for the manufacture of the machinery fitted with those engines (the previous deadline was 30 June 2021) and of 9 months for the placing on the market (previous deadline was 31 December 2021).
