How will technology bring back young people to rural areas?

2021 10 25 SAH at EP young farmers

Horizon 2020 project SmartAgriHubs will hold an event by the title How will technology bring back young people to rural areas?

COVID-19 has forced many young EU farmers to find new ways to trade their products and has forced customers to find new ways to acquire them. Despite the restrictions, there has been a reconnection between rural and urban areas. This clearly illustrates how merging the passion of young farmers with smart solutions can be a key element in order to enhance the resilience of Agri-food systems twenty-first-century challenges.

This event aims at fostering debates with key representatives from different fields of the young agricultural sector and the European decision-makers. Chaired by MEPs Bert-Jan Ruissen & Jeremy Decerle, with the support of CEJA, Region Pays de la Loire, MIJARC Europe, RUMRA & Smart Villages and the Young Professionals Network.

The event will be split into three sessions, each on a different topic but all dealing with the EU’s smart agriculture advancements and young farming.

  • Session 2: How DIHs can help to overcome present obstacles of agriculture
