This vision, promoted by the Bio-Based Industries Consortium, aims at establishing a sustainable and competitive bio-based industry in the EU

CEMA is glad to announce its support to the Bio-Based Industry Consortium and to the Vision for the “The Circular Bio-Society in 2050” that will be released soon.

The vision is the result of the collective work by the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) and its members, the BBI-JU’s advisory bodies States Representatives Group and Scientific Committee, and many organizations and associations working at the EU-level.

This vision aims at establishing a sustainable and competitive bio-based industry in the EU enabling a circular bio-based society by 2050, by focusing on four key drivers, related to food security, the protection of the environment, the creation of jobs and the realization of a circular “bioeconomic” society.

The contents of the vision are coherent with other CEMA activities, including in the framework of EU projects (see AgroCycle - http://www.agrocycle.eu/ ). We also see a particular match with the needs of the sector:

  • Development of new ‘commodities’ as derivates of the common “agricultural” products.
  • Adding value to the primary production at the source is a prerequisite for CEMA industry.
  • Using modern machines’ technology to increase products value

The vision will be released in the next weeks and will be public available soon.
