On 11th September 2018, CEMA participated to the Information day organized in Brussels by the European Commission (DG RTD and EASME) to present the new funding opportunities offered by the Work Programme 2018-2020 for Horizon 2020 's Societal Challenge 5 (SC5) 'Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials'(total indicative budget 2018-2020 of €1.1bn, of which €387.5m for 2019). With the main focus of moving to a greener, more resource-efficient and climate-resilient economy in sync with the natural environment, as well as demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets of the COP21 Paris Agreement, the Work Programme highlights two main multiannual calls:

 

  1. "Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future: climate action in support of the Paris Agreement" (Budget in 2019: €116 million)
  2. "Greening the economy in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" (Budget in 2019: €256.10 million)

During the event, representatives of the European Commission provided information on the upcoming 2019 calls in Horizon2020 Societal Challenge 5 stressing out the importance of the triple “Os” approach: Open to the science, Open to the innovation and Open to the world.
