CEMA is pleased to announce that the Farm Advisory digital Innovation tools Realised and Shared (FAIRShare)project was selected for funding by the European Commission under the Rural renaissance Horizon 2020 Call for proposals RUR-14-2018.
The project’s general objective is to ensure that the farm advisor community effectively uses digital tools and services. To do so, FAIRShare aims at engaging, enabling and empowering the independent farm advisor community, through sharing of tools, expertise and motivations. The scope of FAIRshare fits within the ambition of improved agriculture productivity and sustainability, innovation support actions, digital capacity building, a stronger European and regional AKIS, a faster implementation of new technologies with better social inclusion.
FAIRshare will achieve its general objective through two type of actions:
- It will gather an evidence base of the digital tools and services used internationally, leveraging the social networks of partner institutions that span EU and non-EU countries. The inventory of tools will be accessible to end-users on an intuitively navigable online interface that has been co-designed using a multi-actor approach. Accompanying the tools in the online inventory will be information, for instance short ‘good practice’ vignettes, on how the tools may be used/adapted for use;
- It will generate and resource a participatory ‘living laboratory’, empowering advisor peers from across the EU to interact with the online inventory and, in a series of workshops, to exchange, co-adapt, co-design and apply digital tools.
The FAIRshare 'living lab’ will enable advisors to address challenges to embedding digital tools in different advisory and farming contexts across the EU. Special focus will be on co-designing powerful communication and engagement approaches for advisors to advocate and inspire their peers and farmer clients, driving a social movement for the wider and better use of digital tools.
TEAGASC - Agriculture and food development authority (Ireland) will lead the FAIRShare project where 22 partners from Academia, Professional association, Research and Industry will work together on this 5 year extensive project. The expected start of the project is November 2018.
CEMA will have an important role in the Dissemination activities of FAIRShare, reaching out to the agricultural industry community, preparing the Policy recommendation report and organizing the Project Final Conference.
