AgriTech 2030 – CEMA launches Strategic Vision for Europe’s Agricultural Machinery Industry

Plan features concrete proposals on how to boost Europe’s industrial & technological leadership in advanced farm equipment and bring European farming to the forefront of Digital & Precision Agriculture

Brussels, 10 November 2017 – Ahead of the upcoming AGRITECHNICA fair in Hannover (12-18 November), the world’s largest exhibition for farm machinery, CEMA today launched AgriTech 2030, a new long-term Strategic Vision for Europe’s Agricultural Machinery Industry.

The document contains concrete proposals on how to boost Europe’s industrial & technological leadership in advanced farm equipment and bring European farming to the forefront of Digital & Precision Agriculture in the run-up to 2030.

AgriTech 2030 is designed to serve as a blueprint to develop a forward-looking EU policy agenda to stimulate innovation, jobs, safety standards and growth in farming and in the agricultural machinery industry and help to adapt to challenges such as structural change in agriculture, digitization, and globalization. In particular, EU industrial, digital, environmental, and agricultural policies must be aligned to provide a coherent and supportive framework”, said CEMA President Richard Markwell.

AgriTech 2030 focuses on three key areas of work:

  1. Maximizing the industry’s contribution to highly productive, competitive, sustainable farming methods with high safety standards;
  2. Bringing European farming to the forefront of Digital and Precision Agriculture; and
  3. Strengthening Europe’s industrial & technological leadership in advanced farm equipment.

“We need dedicated and common efforts to reach the objectives outlined in AgriTech 2030. As such, we look forward to working closely with farmers, agricultural contractors, the EU Institutions and other partner organisations to make progress on the Vision presented today”, Markwell said.
