VDMA recently published the turnover figures of the German industry for 2009. Following 5 consecutive years of growth the turnover dropped by 25% to 5.6 bill Euro. Following a rather stable 1st quarter of 2009, caused by order backlogs, the situation worsen throughout the year with -38% in the 2nd half of the year.
The German market according to VDMA estimations dropped by comparably moderate 12% in 2009 to about 4 bill Euro. The German tractor registrations in units decreased by only 6% to 29,465 tractors thanks to strong sales in the compact tractor segment. The decrease in the segment above 50 hp was 8%.
