The July results of the CEMA Business Barometer indicate that the crisis in the agricultural machinery industry has not yet reached the bottom. The domestic order intake of 37% of all participants in June was 20% or more below the past year, orders from foreign markets were 20% and more down for almost every second manufacturers. Especially French manufacturers reported heavy slumps in orders from their home market.
In line with these negative figures two third of all participants plan for lower production volumes for the next half year. However, compared to the previous months the number of participants planning further production cuts for the next 6 months has diminished, while a third of participants believe they reached a stable new production level. For the full year 2009 the average turnover forecast is for a decrease of 17%.
